Partner
Mel is a tax attorney and litigator who counsels clients on complex transactions and represents them in high-stakes disputes. His transactional practice focuses on advising corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals on the tax aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, and real estate investments—including opportunity zone funds, affordable housing developments, and federal tax credit transactions such as historic, low-income housing, new markets, and renewable energy credits.
Mel has litigated matters in U.S. Tax Court, federal district court, federal circuit courts of appeals, state tax courts, state trial courts, and administrative tribunals at both the federal and state level. His background includes five years as Assistant General Counsel in the Real Property division of the U.S. General Services Administration, experience at a Wall Street law firm advising on M&A and activist investor matters, and international tax work at a Big Four accounting firm counseling multinational private equity funds. Mel is an accomplished public speaker who has presented at the American Bar Association and state bar events.
Mel holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center and a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. He is admitted to practice in New York, New Jersey, Texas, and the District of Columbia.

Ghezal is a seasoned litigator who represents clients in complex commercial disputes and civil litigation matters in federal and state courts. She brings a meticulous, strategic approach to case development and trial preparation.
She is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Ghezal is a 2006 graduate of George Washington University Law School and holds an LL.M. in Government from American University, where she was a Dean's Fellow. She previously clerked at the U.S. Department of Justice.
